Make Google’s sign-in say your domain, not <project>.firebaseapp.com.

Google’s sign-in says “to continue to xxxx.firebaseapp.com”, a domain your users have never seen? Signhome checks your live Firebase Auth app for free. For owners of web apps going live on their own domain, often built with an AI agent.

Under 10 seconds · read-only

Why it happens

Firebase Auth sends Google sign-in through your authDomain. Unless you changed it, that is <project>.firebaseapp.com, and Google names it on the account chooser: “to continue to <project>.firebaseapp.com”.

Firebase’s docs say: “If you host your app with Firebase Hosting on a subdomain of firebaseapp.com, you are not affected by this issue and no action is needed.” (redirect best practices, read 24 Oct 2026, can change)

What the fix looks like

  1. Set authDomain to the domain that serves your app.
  2. Make https://<your domain>/__/auth/* reach <project>.firebaseapp.com/__/auth/* through a transparent proxy. Firebase’s docs say this “cannot be done via a 302 Redirect.” /__/firebase/init.json is optional: the proxy works without it.
  3. Add https://<your domain>/__/auth/handler to the Authorised redirect URIs of the auto-created Web client in Google Cloud. If you skip it, Google shows Error 400: redirect_uri_mismatch.
  4. Add your domain to Firebase → Authentication → Authorised domains. If you skip it, sign-in fails with auth/unauthorized-domain.

Steps 3 and 4 are console clicks you do yourself. The free check reads only your public page, never your console settings; if one is missing, the error above tells you which.

In our lab on Cloudflare Workers, with these steps done, Google named our domain.

Google names the registrable domain, so app.yourapp.com shows yourapp.com. On a workers.dev address Google names that platform address, not your brand; use your own domain to show your name.

What the free check tells you

  • The sign-in name. When your app’s Firebase config states the authDomain literally, the card names it: “Google sign-in names: your domain” or “Google sign-in names: <project>.firebaseapp.com”. Otherwise the card says “Google sign-in name: not confirmed”. It never guesses.
  • Your sign-in calls. Which public sign-in calls your app’s own code makes: redirect, popup or both.
  • Your host. Workers detected on workers.dev hosts, owner confirms on a custom domain. A workers.dev address can’t show your own domain at sign-in. You need a domain you own.

The fix pack is for Cloudflare Workers on your own domain.

Signhome fix pack

  • Built from the check we ran on the domain you entered
  • A tested snippet for your host
  • A paste-ready prompt for your AI builder
  • A re-check link

In our lab test, the pack’s Cloudflare Workers snippet, pasted as-is, changed Google’s sign-in screen from pewterkit-day0.firebaseapp.com to pewterkit.com on the next sign-in (5/5 runs, 24 Oct 2026, with the domain already added in Google Cloud and Firebase).

FAQ

What if it doesn’t work for me?

On Cloudflare Workers, it works or you get your money back within 14 days. Our refund policy says: “Works or your money back. If within 14 days you've followed the pack and Google's sign-in still doesn't show your domain, email support with your re-check link. We'll help you fix it, and if we can't, we refund you in full.” It covers apps served by Cloudflare Workers, the hosting setup we’ve tested, and sits alongside your rights under UK consumer law. Do I need to be a developer?

Your fix pack has a paste-ready prompt for your AI builder, the exact snippet we tested, and a re-check that runs the free check on your app again, so you can see the name Google’s sign-in shows after your change.

Is the check safe?

It’s read-only. It reads your public page and its same-origin scripts, the same page any visitor can open, and sends no cookies. It never asks for a sign-in, a password or access to your accounts.

Which hosts does it cover?

Cloudflare Workers on your own domain. In our lab on Cloudflare Workers, Google’s sign-in showed our own domain (re-checked 24 Oct 2026). A workers.dev address can’t show your own domain at sign-in. You need a domain you own. On Cloudflare Pages, Firebase Hosting, Vercel or Netlify, run the free check, pick your host and leave your email: we’ll email you once when yours is ready.

What’s in the fix pack?

It’s built from the check we ran on the domain you entered: the exact snippet we tested for your host, the two console settings to change with the click path to each, a paste-ready prompt for your AI builder, and a re-check. One-time payment, no subscription.
